Today’s Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf translation is of episode 46 in the Adventures in the Sea Series 深海历险记. The Adventures in the Sea is the 21st series of Pleasant goat and Big Big Wolf. This episode first aired on the 20th January 2017 and is called 来我拥抱， which translates into English as ‘Give me a hug.’ The script for this episode was written by Liu Lifan and it was directed by Lai Zhihuan.
Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf English Translation – Episode 46 – 来个拥抱 / Give me a Hug
This episode takes place on ‘Hug Day’ 拥抱节. This imaginary festival sets the scene for the storyline and gags of this episode of Pleasant Goat Bad Bad Wolf.
There are two main aspects to the plot of this episode. The first, a recurring theme is Pleasant Goat’s aversion to getting a hug from the other characters.
The other part of the plot centres round the Village Chief who is having a stressful day too, but in his case it is not because of hugs, but rather because the ‘Magic Rubiks Cube’ is about to explode and he needs to get back to avert it. This brings him into contact with Big Big Wolf who is searching for a fragment of the mythical Ocean Star to save the ocean. The two parts of the storyline come together when the cave Pleasant Goat is hiding in to get away from hugs is the same cave that Big Big Wolf has identified as the location of the fragment from the Ocean Star.
We also get to meet 黑溜溜，a sea urchin desperate to find a job who also does not like hugs. Pleasant Goat and the sea urchin bump into each other in the cave they both go to hide in from the formalities of a give a hug day. Then when 黑溜溜 hears an announcement over a loudspeaker for a job as a goodwill ambassador, he runs out of the safety of the cave. However, when he learns that a prerequisite requirement for the job is to hug him, he quickly runs away from the other candidates and back to the safety of the cave.
Their safety is short-lived however, because shortly Big Big Wolf enters the cave searching for the last fragment of the Ocean Star.
It is doubtful whether this episode of Pleasant Goat Big Big Wolf would ever get to air on the BBC, not in this decade anyway. All in all this episode of Pleasant Goat Bad Bad Wolf is completely bonkers but a good sources of vocabulary for those studying mandarin.
