Linking for OET Writing

In View of the above

In view of the above is a linking device used to link a circumstance to a request for a course of action to be undertaken. It can be used to connect two paragraphs. For example in the final paragraph of your OET letter you are expected to provide clear instructions about what you would like the recipient to do. Therefore in paragraph 3 you may outline the personal or social circumstances of a patient. You may then follow this with paragraph 4, beginning with ‘in view of this.’ An example below:

(Paragraph3) Mr Saunders is recovering well from his broken leg. However, his wound is not fully healed and he is still in a lot of pain. Additionally, he has mobility issues as a result of his obesity and frequents dizzy spells.

(Paragraph 4) In view of the above, it would be greatly appreciated if you would provide regular home visits.
