English Classes in Birmingham

 

Birmingham City Council

Birmingham City Council run a number of colleges in various locations across the city that provide classes in a number of subjects, both academic and practical (courses such as carpentry, gardening, plumbing). Some of these college also provide English classes.

  • The Brasshouse will be moved to the Library of Birmingham at the end of last year and 2017 promises to be an interesting year as they adjust to their new surroundings. Their English Language classes include: General English, and exam preparation course such as IELTS, FCE and CAE.
  • South and City College Birmingham offer General English courses from Entry level up to Level 2. These ESOL courses are directed towards people who plan to settle down, find jobs and stay in Birmingham. However, they are also suitable for people who are just here to study English. Like the Brasshouse, the college also offer IELTS preparation courses. Private Language Schools and Colleges

There are also a wide range of private language schools and colleges across Birmingam that offer English classes. Many of these offer more flexibility allowing you to design a course that suits your language level and your availability. Most of these are located in the city centre and offer course such as: General English Languages, Academic English, IELTS exam preparation and ESOL.

  • The Language Gallery is a chain of language schools with branches across the UK and Ireland. The Birmingham branch is one of the biggest and prides itself on flexibility of study and offers free trial classes which you can use to assess whether it matches your requirements. The college prides itself on being a relaxed and fun place to learn and offers a range of social activities and trips which provide the opportunity to enjoy your language learning.   • Winsor College Winsor College is a small but growing college right in the heart of Birmingham city centre. It is located right next to St. Martin’s church and is a stone’s throw away from Birmingham’s famous outdoor market, which sells fresh fruit, vegetables and other foods. It has a wide range of language courses that caters for the full range of language levels from beginner classes right up to advanced. They also have women only classes for students who want single sex classes for religious reasons.
